"But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:31 NLT

The Faculty

OBCS faculty members hold a variety of academic credentials and represent strong Christian values and traditions. Each is dedicated to the purposeful integration of biblical truth, scholastic excellence, and personal spiritual growth that forms the basis of Christian education.

The Students

Students are admitted on the basis of parental and personal spiritual commitment, entrance examinations, and previous school records. Students possess average to above average ability. Class sizes are limited.

Enrollment

2010-2011 enrollment: 47 students. The average student to teacher ratio is currenlty 9:1. All students enroll on a trial enrollment basis, academically and behaviorally. A 2-4 week evaluation period is used to determine continued enrollment status.

School Courses

The school (grades K-6) curriculum includes Bible, English or phonics, creative writing, mathematics, science, social studies, music or choir, art, physical education, or keyboarding. We use predominately A Beka Book curriculum. Other curriculum will be adopted and used to supplement and enrich courses and programs as needed. Our goal is to challenge each student to gain a firm understanding of all foundational skills required in life.

Grading System

A numerical system is used for grading students. Numerical grades are interpreted as follows:

A 94-100 C 77-84 F Below 69
B 85-93 D 70-76 I Incomplete work

Standardized Testing

Students take the Stanford Achievement Test in grades 1-6. We also administer the Dakota Assessment of Content Standards to all students in grades 2-6, three times a year, to monitor our annual academic progress.

  • Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
